Supervisor Sweeton: Recognizing the Good

News & Updates

For Town information log on to www.townofwarwick.org  or tune to Cablevision Municipal Channel 21.

Several things that happened this week remind me of why I love this Town so much.  First, recognizing that it was National Nurses Week, Mayor Newhard and I sent a few quick emails to our fire, ambulance and police who arranged another drive-by salute to these unsung heroes of healthcare, our nurses; they do so deserve it.  Another effort, initiated by a local small business owner, secured banners for each of the Warwick School District graduates so that we can salute them for overcoming Covid-19 and how it has changed their long-sought senior year.  This virus has made them stronger, and we salute them.  Finally, the creativeness, ingenuity and determination of our local businesses is on display as they work really hard to survive the closure of their physical locations.  The Warwick Relief Market, Warwick Chamber business updates list, and even local residents connecting with the businesses to show how much we all appreciate what they bring to our Town are all great examples.  I firmly believe that what everyone has built here in Warwick makes us uniquely positioned to not only survive this hideous disease but emerge as an even more desirable place to live, work and raise our families.  Stay safe, follow the CDC guidelines to protect yourself and your loved ones, and if you are able, help someone in need.  That’s Warwick Strong!

Our residents are taking advantage of the improving weather to get outside with their families.  We are a Town with many narrow country roads, so please slow down when driving with so many walking these roads.  If you are the walker, bicyclist or jogger please wear bright or reflective clothing so you are readily visible to car traffic.  If we all do our part everyone will be safe.  If you are using one of our parks, the Appalachian Trail, a State park or the many not-for-profit conservation areas, please practice social distancing, and do not park on roadsides or block private driveways.

Just a reminder – Town Hall offices are closed to the public at this time.  The lobby remains open with drop boxes to leave forms, water and sewer payments, Building Department applications, etc.  Most forms and applications are online at www.townofwarwick.org.  Please be advised we are not accepting any cash payments at this time.  Please pay by either check or money order.  Most all services are still available, so if you have any questions or needs please call 986-1124 or 986-1120.

The next regular meeting of the Town Board, as per Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.1, will be closed to the public but can be viewed live via the Zoom app on Thurs., May 14, at 7:30 p.m. A link to the meeting will be placed in our official newspaper, the WV Dispatch, and on www.townofwarwick.org.  All future meetings will be conducted in this manner until the Governor’s order is lifted.
