In order to memorialize the loss of the country’s service men and women Hugs for Courage asks all residents to embrace the Yellow Ribbon Project. Hugs for Courage is currently selling Yellow Ribbons to be placed throughout the town, Village, and Warwick’s hamlets.
The cost of each ribbon is $5 and all proceeds will go to the VFW Post #4662 and American Legion, launching the official start of fundraising to secure a home center. These ribbons will be available for purchase, cash only, at Roe Brothers, Track 7, Leo Kaytes Ford, Yesterdays Irish Pub & Restaurant and the Greenwood Lake Garden Center.
Sponsor a Plant in Honor of WWII Veteran
Last month, the Warwick VFW Post #4662 lost their oldest member, Benjamin Valenti, a WWII Veteran and Purple Heart recipient; he would have celebrated his 103rd Birthday on May 11. In his memory, Hugs for Courage will be planting 103 perennials that will bloom around his birthday and Memorial Day each year. The public location for the garden has yet to be determined. The cost to sponsor a plant is $10.
1st Annual Golf Open
On Mon., June 1, Hugs for Courage will be hosting the 1st Annual Golf Open at Hickory Hill Golf Course to honor, benefit and celebrate Warwick’s veterans, active military & first responders. These “frontline warriors” give so much of themselves to the community and country. It is time that they have a day, to themselves, where they have the opportunity to enjoy time amongst their comrades; relaxing outdoors on the green.
To make this happen, help sponsor a “frontline warrior” to play exclusively amongst one another for the day. The cost for sponsorship starts at $200 for one golfer, $375 for two, $525 for three and $700 for four. For those who want to sponsor a specific person, make note of their name upon payment. All ticket costs go to the expenses for the day and the remaining proceeds will benefit VFW Post #4662.

Hugs for Courage is a grassroots organization, founded by community members in Warwick, who recognized the need to provide support to local veterans and first responders. It is their passionate belief that these invaluable members of the community who have given so much of themselves, and sacrificed for the greater good, deserve to have support in return. Currently, Hugs for Courage is focusing its fundraising efforts on aiding VFW Post #4662 in securing a home center, where much-needed services can be provided to local veterans along with first responders.
