After much consideration and discussions with both the Village Board and the members of the Greenwood Lake Chamber of Commerce, we have decided to postpone the Independence Day fireworks show this year. We will instead have the fireworks show on Sept. 26, the new date for this year’s street fair. Part of the reason we undertake the expense of a fireworks show, which is in part paid for by sponsors and Orange County Tourism funds, is to drive people from outside the area to support our local businesses. With businesses and the beach occupancy expected to be at much lower levels in July, having the fireworks, and associated expenses, did not make sense.
