What began just over a week ago as a simple idea to bring area restaurants together with the front liners in need of food during this unprecedented health crisis has now blossomed into a Facebook page of over 100 donors and several “missions” each week.
The Warwick Valley Meal Train (Facebook group) has helped to deliver nourishing meals to the physicians, nurses and staff at St. Anthony Community Hospital and the Warwick Health campus, Good Samaritan Hospital, the Warwick Ambulance Service, Goshen Volunteer Ambulance, with others on the horizon.
“This has been a labor of love that began with a small group of friends and morphed into a dedicated group of community-minded people coming together to support those who are at the epicenters of the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Inez Freund, Warwick Valley Meal Train organizer.
The Warwick Valley Meal Train has received generous support from restaurant partners, most notably the Empire Diner in Monroe, NY. All community members are welcome to jump on the Warwick Valley Meal Train on Facebook or email inezfreund@gmail.com with any questions about how to donate.
