As the number of positive COVID-19 cases has reached 402 in Warwick as of Mon., Apr. 20, Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) reports that the Network is continuing COVID-19 testing as well as providing adequate equipment and services for staff.
As of Fri., Apr. 17, the Network has provided more than 17,000 tests in four counties, according to Helene Guss, Director of Network Marketing & Communications/Site Coordination for WMCHealth.
Guss provided the following statement on behalf of the Network:
“A safe and effective care environment is our highest priority and St. Anthony Community Hospital, Mount Alverno Center, Schervier Pavilion and all other WMCHealth facilities and medical practices are taking the necessary steps to protect our patients and our workforce as COVID-19 care needs evolve.”
The statement further explained that all WMCHealth facilities, including the Warwick campus, have adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) on hand as supplies are shared within the entire network. Additionally, according to Guss, care teams are “extremely conscious about appropriate use and conservation of PPE as per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.”
WMCHealth has also opened drive-through COVID-19 testing facilities in four counties, one of which is conveniently located at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick. This appointment-only testing location is open Monday through Friday. For more information, visit stanthonycommunityhosp.org/coronavirus-need-to-know.
In addition, WMCHealth’s telemedicine infrastructure has extended their emergency, critical care and other specialists to WMCHealth facilities including St. Anthony Community Hospital to provide clinical support and expertise. To make things a little easier for Warwick-based workforce members, WMCHealth installed a pop-up market in the cafeteria at St. Anthony Community Hospital for the purchase of grocery staples.
“Collectively, we are proud of the work that we are doing across the WMCHealth Network, the care that is being provided and the steps that are being taken to protect our workforce and care for our patients at St. Anthony Community Hospital, Mount Alverno Center, Schervier Pavilion. WMCHealth is also grateful for the outpouring of support and inspiration from the Warwick Valley and the communities we serve,” said Guss.
