The coronavirus has upended everyone’s lives, threatening both health and livelihood. The Albert Wisner Public Library is focused on protecting families. Yet, April also brings the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, especially relevant as the climate crisis continues at the same time.
The Library is partnering with Sustainable Warwick to celebrate the planet and action on climate change. While the Library is closed until further notice, these activities will be online. All programs will be presented online via Zoom video conferencing. To attend follow the registration instructions listed below.
Online Discussion of the Documentary Film ‘Disruption’ (2014)
Tues., Apr. 21 at 7 p.m.: Shot during the 100 days prior to the Sept. 21, 2014 People’s Climate March in New York City, the film presents a history of the science and politics of climate change as well as the planning that went into this historic climate march. 52 minutes. Earth Day Movie Discussion & Helpful Hints Presentation
Wed., Apr. 22 at 6:30 p.m.: Watch The Story of Stuff movie on your own then join the Library for a discussion of the movie and a presentation. The Story of Stuff can be found at https://www.storyofstuff.org/movies/story-of-stuff/. It is approximately 20 minutes long.
Climate Action, Climate Justice:
NYS Plan for a Sustainable & Just Transition
Fri., Apr. 24 at 7 p.m.: Online presentation and discussion with State Senator Jen Metzger. What will the 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act law mean for New Yorkers? How will it influence the worldwide crisis? Online “question and answer” is limited to the discussion of climate change following the presentation.
