Orange County families will want to mark their calendars for the upcoming Family Purim Carnival on Sat., Mar. 7 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Temple Beth Shalom (TBS), located at 13 Roosevelt Ave. in Florida, NY.
“This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy some indoor fun and to learn a little about the Jewish holiday of Purim,” says TBS Rabbi Rebecca Shinder. “Purim is a costume party, carnival and food festival all rolled into one and the children especially love it. We invite not only Jewish and interfaith families to attend, but other families in the area as well.”
The temple will have a costume contest for both adults and children, along with lots of games and prizes.
Purim 2020 commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia from a plot to destroy all the Jews in a single day and the miracle that saved them. Important players in the story can be found in greater detail on the TBS website www.tbs-ny.org.
