Laker Kids Club Continues To Help Others

     The Laker Kids Club from the Greenwood Lake Middle School are having a busy school year. The Club, run by Middle School teachers Maureen Joseph and Ellen Collins, was formed three years ago and has been growing leaps and bounds since.

     Members Hillary Surun, Angie Foschini, Bailie Frey, Ava Ndreu, Julianna Graff, Alexa Hansen, Karrah Landru, Caroline Rourke, Sophia Del Valle, Abigail Velez, Jessica Bell, along with Ava Piccirillo, Kaylen Landru, Ileana Del Valle  and  Alexa Pitiger, recently raised $1,208 for the Backpack Snack Attack Program;  the Greenwood Lake Teachers Association raised over $2,700 for the program. The Backpack Snack Program provides snacks for students and families in need.

     “The Laker Kids at the Greenwood Lake Middle School generously supported Backpack Snack Attack through their fundraising efforts. Their dedication to helping others who need some added support is evident in their joyful giving of their time and energy. As a community, we are very grateful for their generous spirit,” said Shirley Puett, Executive Director of the Backpack Snack Attack.

     Other fundraising events such as bake sales, car washes, donations to the local food pantry, raising money for St. Jude’s, and delivering baked goods to the local seniors are some of the many good deeds and causes the club participated in.

Easter Egg Hunt Set for Apr. 4

     The Laker Kids will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Sat., Apr. 4 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the G.L. Middle School, located at 1247 Lakes Rd. in Monroe, for grades K-3.  Admission is $5, and all proceeds will go to the G.L. Food Pantry and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
