The annual winter tradition that was held at the Breezy Point Inn for many years has a new home. This will be the 2nd year the Village will host the Winter Carnival at the Thomas Morahan Waterfront Park. This event, run by the Greenwood Lake Chamber of Commerce, had an incredible turnout last year, and we expect another amazing year this year. The festival takes place over the Presidents Day weekend (Sat., Feb. 15 and Sun., Feb. 16) at the beach. The website for the festival, www.gwlnywc.com, lists all of the activities as well as parking and shuttle service details. There will be absolutely no parking on any of the side streets north of Jersey Ave./Church St. heading toward the park.
On Fri., Feb. 14, there will be a friend in need fundraiser in the Winter Carnival tent to support three local families dealing with incredibly difficult times. The GWL Skatepark Committee is hosting the polar plunge this year to help raise funds for the skatepark. The plunge will be Sunday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. I hope to see everyone there for this winter entertainment and fun for all ages! The Winter Carnival will take place rain or shine, and all events will be located at the Thomas Morahan Waterfront Park, at 7 Windermere Ave. in Greenwood Lake.
