On Sun., Jan. 12, at 1 p.m., the Friends of Sterling Forest will host local historian Sue Gardner who will present material from her new book, Pure Necessity: Revolution at Warwick. The event will take place at the Lautenberg Visitor Center, located at 116 Old Forge Rd. in Tuxedo, NY. The talk will include special emphasis on events in the Greenwood Lake and Sterling Forest area.
Gardner’s book tells the story of the Town of Warwick during the Revolutionary War using original documents, eyewitness testimony and oral traditions. Departing from the famous story of Sterling Forge, learn about less well-known history such as the infamous murder that happened in the Dutch Hollow area in 1779, and why Benedict Arnold’s treason is connected to the area.
