Story by Janmarie Foschini
During the Greenwood Lake School Board meeting on Thurs., Dec. 19, Board President Susan Selser welcomed new board member Yu Kwon Lee. Lee replaces long-standing Board member John Finn who recently passed away.
Elementary School Principal Dianne Connolly complimented the recent Winter Concert hosted at the Elementary School saying, “Our Winter Concert was held today and was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance.”
Throughout the month of December and with the help of the Specials Team of teachers, students made seasonal art that were used as decorations. Stacy Lawrence of the Greenwood Lake Garden Center provided beautiful poinsettias and greenery to decorate the stage. A food drive was run in conjunction with this event, and the donations will be delivered to the GL Food Pantry.
The first Explorations Day of the school year was also held, and in January, the school will kick off “Whole School Reading.” Families will receive a copy of the book, The Tiny Hero of Ferny Creek Library. Students will read together as a school as well at home with their families.
Middle School Principal Jeffrey Golubchick commended the students on their Winter Concert and also thanked the Board for purchasing Orff instruments. Students in grades six through eight are in the process of choosing their next set of electives. Students have band and chorus options as well as eleven other choices for the spring.
