Take a break from the holiday stress at the Annual Wassail Party at the Warwick Historical Society on Sun., Dec. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the A.W. Buckbee Center, 2 Colonial Ave., Warwick.
Sip on a traditional wassail, an alcoholic beverage served during medieval times to ensure a good harvest in the coming year. Appetizers and tasty holiday treats along with wine and eggnog will also be served. There will be a special guest performance by the Warwick Valley High School’s Meistersingers.
The party is set against the backdrop of the newest exhibit, Holidays From Yesterday, a look at how people played through winter and celebrated the holidays in days gone past. See the dress and games from the 1800’s, holiday cards, toys, decorations, and a table depicting a special feast. Also on display is a look at the presence of the Civil War during an otherwise joyful season.
The Annual Wassail Party is a Warwick Historical Society tradition. Tickets are $30 per member, $40 for non-members and at the door. Call 986-3236 for reservations and more information.
