Two Students Win Art Contest in Florida

Local News News & Updates

Each year the Florida American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1250 holds a contest entitled, “What Veterans Day Means To Me,” which is open to fourth and fifth graders. The contest encourages students to use any art medium in expressing their definition of Veterans Day.

The fourth grade winner was Vittoria Damiani, who used hand prints in red and blue to design banners with stars. Each of the photos included in her art work were of family members who have served or are serving including her great-grandfather.

The fifth grade winner was Sierra Grove and her artwork included not only a soldier in uniform but she used the first letters of the word ”soldier” to describe what their actions meant to her.

Each winner was presented with a tote bag filled with both educational and fun items.
