New York State Senator Jen Metzger has received a score of 100 percent on the EPL/Environmental Advocates 2019 New York State Environmental Scorecard. The annual scorecard reviews the environmental voting records of state legislators.
“We are blessed with a wealth of natural and scenic resources in the Hudson Valley and the Catskills, and I take very seriously my responsibility as a state legislator to protect them,” said Senator Metzger, who has been a leading voice in the State Senate to fight climate change, protect farmland and open space, and secure state funding for water quality improvements and other environmental protection efforts.
EPL/Environmental Advocates has called the 2019 session in New York “the greatest environmental legislative session in a generation.” Included in the organization’s list of environmental successes are such initiatives as $500 million in new funding for clean water infrastructure projects, a state-wide ban on plastic bags and on the use of toxic chemicals in children’s toys and products, and the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, which Sen. Metzger championed.
